Noorderslag 2010

Like last year, I got too late in ordering tickets for Eurosonic/Noorderslag… and was afraid I would have a not so exciting weekend in Deventer… until, until Joris of the Harmonie Boekingen called me to ask me if I was free. Excelsior was throwing a party in de Silo with 4 bands and they needed to sound tech for the event. Of course I said yes without any hesitation :)
Then a couple of hours later, I got an email from Drive Like Maria confirming I was on their guestlist to get to Noorderslag :)

Double delight thus!

My Saturday started by a very good day in de Silo. RentAmp took care of delivering the PA. Very cool people! I hope to work with them again. I got to mix Tim Knol (which I remembered made a big impression when being support act of Johan) and Klein, which I didnt know and which, despite of some technical problems on stage, also made a very good impression! I will get both CDs later this week I suppose.
El Pino & the Volunteers had their own soundtech with them.  I hadnt seen them live in a very long time and if their latest work seems to have a bit less of immediately identifying sound, the tracks of Molten City remain a treat for the ears!
Beans & Fatback ended the afternoon in style.

After a  very quick  breaking of the set, I went to meet Michael of ZaZa who was kind to host me for the night and then on the way to rock n roll!! Drive Like Maria was already on stage when I arrived and I needed to use shoulders and elbows to get to a decent spot and enjoy the set! They did super great!!
After that, I met Marjolein (the Gathering) and we hooked up together for the rest of the night, watching bits and piece of some fine tune (Eric Vloeimans’ Gatecrash band, New Cool Collective, Go Back to the Zoo).

It was a great great night!! Big thanks to Joris and de Harmonie, Drive Like Maria and Michael!
